Ever the fan of anything Jedi Master His Majesty Sir Charlie Miller the Excellent Dude puts his fingers on I gladly started streaming his 3/24/71 Winterland Show this morning.

I mistook the Drums into TOO for a 10 megaton nuclear detonation at about a 500 foot height of burst. There is only one other person in the office today - she is a budding head and her comment was (and I quote) "Holy Shit!!! What was that????"

Which begs the question - what other TOO intros are memorable out there?

Thanks for your inputs and Be Well everyone.

Watch out Mandojammer the people are in here are really biased to early dead. As for the TOO selection...

I use 01-22-78 as my ringtone and it may be just the awesome over-ampedness of the sbd, or the wonderful drum crescendo, but it always makes people around me go "holy shit". That show also contains the best St. Steve ever, bytheway, (with the close second of 10-29-77) and don't let anybody ever suggest a weak-ass 1969 one as superior.

I like the intro to 4/6/69. The "drums" before Phil's bass roll is very short but manic and the audience's whooping in the background adds to it nicely.

Nice - I have this one and must have forgotten. Even though Phil's roll was a burst, I like the way Pig rolled right on in behind and just before Jer. Pig's organ was rockin' like a rowboat in a Force 9 gale. (That sounded weird???)

There is NO substitute for what Jerry does on 12-29-68.

Seriously.

Wow - I just streamed that one. I liked how Drums took on that TOO liftoff imminent feel at about 2:20.

But Holy Shit Batman!!!! Garcia was an animal - I don't know about anyone else out there but he sounded like he was channeling Hendrix.

Thanks - I think I have a new favorite TOO face melter.

Ha--that's what my kid says about that one AND the three June era StSt's...apt.

That little noise he makes after a screaming solo waiting for the next verse, in the mid-section, sort of a squeal-whine that is hard to describe in a brief moment of pause...really bizarre...
